About the Department

Future innovators in battery⦁chemical engineering
who will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution are being cultivated at the
Department of Battery and Chemical Engineering, Hanyang University ERICA.

Battery⦁Chemical Engineering builds upon traditional chemical engineering education while strengthening training in battery materials and processes. Students gain knowledge of hemical process design, organic & inorganic chemistry, and biotechnology—core areas essential to a wide range of industries, including batteries, refining & petrochemicals, semiconductors, cosmetics, and bioindustry.
This field focuses on the synthesis principles, properties, and analysis of various organic & inorganic battery materials and advanced chemical engineering materials, as well as the chemical process design and laboratory techniques required to implement them in practice. As a result, the discipline is closely connected to a broad spectrum of industrial sectors.

Graduates of Battery and Chemical Engineering have a wide range of career opportunities. In addition to traditional industries such as petrochemicals, refining, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, they play key roles in advanced sectors including batteries, biotechnology, and semiconductors.
They can also contribute to government-funded research institutes, public enterprises, and various organizations engaged in next-generation secondary battery research and chemical engineering convergence studies. As a result, graduates are well prepared to become core professionals across the entire spectrum of chemical engineering and emerging high-tech industries.
